On Saturday, August 15th, the wonderfully talented and patient teacher, Trisha (silent a) Frankland will be teaching 'Quilt Talk' in a two part series. "Quilt Talk" (the book is required and can be purchased at Mill House Quilts) was written by Sam Hunter. Once you put Sam's book together with the guidance of the teacher, Trisha Frankland, paper piecing will be demystified to you.
9:30 -12:30: The morning session is called 'Quilt Talk Alphabet'. You will learn how to size and assemble letters to make your projects sit up and speak! Sam Hunter’s Quilt Talk paper-pieced alphabet is fun and addictive. Trish will not only demystify paper piecing but she'll help you calculate what size your letters need to be to make your quilt say whatever you want ... a mantra, a favorite quote, anything you'd like!
Here is a mini quilt I made utilizing the paper pieced alphabet from Sam Hunter's book 'Quilt Talk'. The possibilities are literally endless once you've begun! And these cute little letters are seriously fun to make!
Lunch option available for those attending the afternoon Quilt Talk.
1:30 - 4:30: In the afternoon you have the option of attending 'Quilt Talk Strip Quilt'. This “drip” strip quilt looks hard but sews easily with a 2 ½” strip pack. Plus, there’s a place to insert your mantra—a name or feature a Row by Row pattern. Sam Hunter's pattern for this quilt utilizes innovative techniques that make the piecing fast, effective and accurate.
You can take a closer look at this fun quilt as you walk up the stairs at Mill House Quilts. The fabric requirements to make this entire peice is just one jelly roll plus a little fabric.
A cool option about this class is you can choose to do one, or both of the classes! Each class is $30 but if you choose to sign up for both you will save $10 and pay only $50 for the whole day! Be sure to contact Mill House Quilts and sign up for the class 'Quilt Talk' as soon as possible! You're not going to want to miss this one!
